Day 4 of the trip was GNARLY. There was a storm warning for super high winds on the south side of the island – of course, right where we were. The roads were terrible, and conditions were not to be messed with.
So, we drove out to a place to park, got the cards out, watched a movie and just hunkered down in the warm vans. Well, of course, after I got in my long johns and tried to brave the 35 mph winds.
At first, I was a little bummed that a precious day in Iceland was used up and “wasted” in the storm. But at the end of it all, when we were safe, warm and had laughed a lot, there was really nothing to be disappointed with. Don’t mess with the weather in Iceland. Check road conditions and don’t take risks. www.road.is was our go to for roadway information, and is updated multiple times an hour. Pay attention and BE SAFE.

Wow, what a trip! And it’s days like that which you’ll still be talking about years from now – “Remember that time when we got stormed in and spent the day in the rig?”
